Hi all,

 

instead of windows file system we store uploaded attachments on our MS SQL Server. Now we've seen a strange phenomena on our IIS:

 

When a file e.g. a picture is uploaded using CuteEditor a file is created on c:" of the webserver.

It is named persisted.UniqueID.Filename.axd such as persisted.320d1ce6-6f55-4465-baaa-03ca94576763.Task_27854_Documentation.pdf.axd .

In a few cases also uploading.UniqueID.Filename.axd such as uploading.039ce3b7-b1d4-4c03-bf2d-46e1f0ead553.75064146_TS.txt.axd .

 

I've seen here in the forum that the question was raised before but unfortunately not answered: C:\Windows\Temp folder....:  Also, there are .axd files generated for each upload, as it appears. Is this going to be an issue later on or will this clear out?

 

1. Could I delete these files manually?
2. Is there any workaround how to avoid such files?

It looks like you are using verson 6.0. Please note that the latest version is version 6.1.2.

In Cute Editor, we use Ajax Uploader to handle file uploading.  Ajax Uploader is an easy to use, hi-performance ASP.NET upload component which allows you to upload files to web server without refreshing the page.

 

By streaming uploads directly to an output stream, rather than loading them into memory, Ajax Uploader achieves a level of scalability and performance impossible to reach with ASP.NET's built-in functionality.

 

To achieve this, Ajax Uploader needs a temp folder to hold temp files.

 

Once files are uploaded, Ajax Uploader will clean the temp files in the temp folder.

you are right, we used version 6.0.0 but now I've deployed the latest one from 07.08.2008 (in the property page VS2005 says it's version 6.1.0 instead of 6.1.2). I will now also delete the existing .axd files and see what happens with new uploads. Is there any chance to configure AjaxUploader to create these files in a different directory? Currently they are in C: root, I don't like that....

Please open your web.config and add the following entry:

 

<add key="CuteEditorTempPath" value="~/CuteEditorTemp" />

ok, thanks for the info, I'll modify the path so they are not stored in root anymore. But I cannot deploy latest 6.1.2 before this problem is solved:

File upload does not work (6.1.2): URL is not computed
