Just had a user posting some logs in forum that was about 1 MB big because of the length of the post. I added MaxTextLength="1000" to the web.config but I want to do that for the registered users only. Do I need to recompile the provider for this because I found that Registered_MaxTextLength="10" did not work?

Mariette,

In the current provider only MaxHTMLLength and MaxTextLength works.

If you want to control maximum number of characters by DNN role, you need to modify the CE provider to meet your requirements.

Thanks Adam. I'll wait for 5.2 and then change the provider or maybe you can do that...

Yes, I forgot to add this to the provider.

We will add it and publish a new provider tonight.

I added Registered_MaxTextLength="5000" to the web.config and copied a piece of text 6500 characters in it and that worked. What am I doing wrong?

Let us do a test.

Can you set it to 50 and try again?

BTW please download the latest build (02/09/2005).

I will post the change log as soon as possible.

It does not work. I have cleared the cache. Done an IISreset just to be sure...

Sorry, I know the problem is. Please download the latest build. And copy the DotNetNuke.CEHtmlEditorProvider.dll to your project bin folder.

Thanks Adam. That fixed it. I noticed the value is counted as spaces included, is that correct?
